The Delhi University (DU) has designated Professor Satyapal Singh from the Department of Sanskrit as the chief election officer for the upcoming students' union elections for the academic year 2024-25, as per an official notification. The Central Council of Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) will also have Professor Raj Kishore Sharma as the chief returning officer and Rajesh Singh as the returning officer. Sharma is a professor in the Department of Chemistry, while Singh serves as a librarian.

The notification dated August 29 indicates that the Vice-Chancellor has additionally appointed the principals and heads of institutions affiliated with DUSU as election officers to oversee the Central Council elections within their respective institutions for the academic year 2024-25. In last year's DUSU elections, held after a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) secured three central panel positions, including the presidency, while the Congress's student wing NSUI obtained one position.

Tushar Dedha of ABVP won the DUSU presidency by defeating NSUI's Hitesh Gulia. The Congress student wing’s Abhi Dahiya was elected vice-president. The ABVP’s Aparajita and Sachin Baisla won the positions of secretary and joint secretary respectively.
