Only 1 exam per semester Anna University

Chennai: In a move aimed at ensuring the quality of education in engineering. Anna University has decided to conduct only one exam per semester for autonomous colleges in Tamil Nadu. Currently, out of the 433 engineering colleges in the state, 150 have been granted an autonomous status, allowing them to conduct their own exams and award marks.
However, with around 50 colleges receiving autonomous status from the university grants commission in the last three months, despite the university's reservations about some of them, Anna University has taken steps to maintain academic standards. The vice chancellor of Anna University said that they want to ensure a minimum standard.
The new policy exempts autonomous universities ranked within the top 200 in the National Institutional ranking framework. This comes in response to concerns over high pass percentage with allegations that some institutions may be inflating students' marks. The university will select a subject at random for the exam. If the students perform poly, it will trigger a review of Marx awarded in other subjects. Anna University has introduced industry-relevant courses for its students in the 5th 6th and 7th semesters, which will be taught by industry experts. New courses in entrepreneurship and standards have also been added to the curriculum. To bring in a formality across the state, the university has introduced a common academic schedule for all colleges.
