J A Chowdary Receives Honorary Doctorate from Chitkara University

Chitkara University has bestowed an honorary doctoral degree upon J A Chowdary, the founder and chairman of the International Startup Foundation. This recognition acknowledges his exceptional and transformative contributions to the dynamic field of entrepreneurship. The International Startup Foundation is firmly dedicated to promoting and supporting startups and entrepreneurs worldwide. It offers mentorship, resources, and a thriving platform for budding innovators. The degree was conferred by Chancellor Dr. Ashok Chitkara and pro-chancellor Dr Madhu Chitkara at Chitkara University Punjab Campus.  Ashok Chitkara expressed his gratitude for J A Chowdary's efforts and credited him for enabling an IT revolution in Hyderabad. With numerous accolades and achievements to his name, Chowdary successfully brought about societal transformation. As an industry expert, his insights and guidance are frequently sought after on a wide array of significant IT sector matters worldwide.

Congratulating J A Chowdary, Madhu Chitkara said, “Mr. Chowdary has demonstrated an illustrious history of working in the IT industry. He has contributed to several reputed organizations in his career spanning over 25 years. He is always chasing new horizons and pursuing radical approaches that will shape the future”. Mr. J A Chowdary praised Chitkara University for its commendable accomplishments in both the educational and entrepreneurial sectors, particularly highlighting its industry-oriented programs. Holding an M.Tech in solid state electronics from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras and an M.Sc from SK University, Mr. Chowdary commenced his professional journey at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) as a scientist. During his tenure, he contributed to the design of telemetry subsystems for satellites such as Bhaskara, Rohini, and Aryabhata. During the ceremony, J A Chowdary divulged insights from his journey and spoke about his experiences. Thanking Chitkara University for the honour, he articulated, “It is a privilege for me to receive the Honorary Doctorate degree from Chitkara University. I would like to specially thank Dr. Ashok Chitkara and Dr. Madhu Chitkara, for this honour. The way Chitkara has made a mark in the education world by offering industry-oriented courses is truly commendable. I hope they continue leading the education edge and reach new heights.”

Chowdhary was employed at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), where he contributed to the development of mechanisms for online monitoring of pollution levels and process control instruments for BHEL power stations. Chowdary has received numerous accolades, including the Meritorious Invention Award from the National Research Development Corporation, the HMA Award of Excellence for promoting the Indian IT industry, the HYSEA Award of Excellence for supporting the IT sector in Andhra Pradesh, and the Life Time Achievement Award from HYSEA in 2020. The Telugu Association of Texas in the United States also presented him with an Award of Excellence. He is a co-founder of PortalPlayer, which was acquired by Nvidia in 2007, as well as a co-founder and board member at Hyderabad Angels. Furthermore, he directed the development of the chip utilized in the first-generation iPod.
