Founded in 1997 by the Tamil Nadu Government, Periyar University is a distinguished state institution located in Tamil Nadu, with approximately 106 affiliated colleges. The university recently introduced a new online platform, www.periyaredu.in, to offer various undergraduate and postgraduate programs. It holds an A grade accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and received the 12 (B) status in 2005 and 2f status in 1998 from the University Grants Commission. The NIRF report indicated that out of 778 UG and PG students in 2023, 181 were placed with median packages of INR 3.50 LPA for UG (3-year) and INR 3 LPA for PG (2-year) students respectively. 
• Two scholarship types exist 1) Dr. Ambedhkar and Rajaji Meritorious Scholarship for one first-year PG student with top UG scores, renewable upon first-attempt subject completion. 2) Tuition Fee Waiver for B.Voc. students in Food Science, Nutrition, Textiles, Apparel Design, and physically disabled students in University Departments, irrespective of category or program.
